General Golfing Demographics
There are approximately 50 million registered golfers worldwide with an additional 20 million playing on casual basis.
In the UK about 12% of the adult population (5.8M people) play golf and 7% play golf regularly (3.4M people). Approximately 85% of UK golfers are male and 70% are married.
The age range of adult UK golfers can be broken down as follows:
15 – 24 years: 17%
25 – 34 years: 28%
35 – 44 years: 20%
45 – 54 years: 17%
55 - 64 years: 18%
65+ years: 7%
Golfers are typically high net worth individuals from A, B and C1 social demographic groups that have high levels of disposable income.
